How do you play Dungeons and Dragons?
I’ve written a brief explanation of all the components of D&D on my page “What is Dungeons & Dragons?”
How many people can play?
Dungeons & Dragons technically can be played with any number of players, but I prefer to work with parties of 3-6 people.
Where do we play?
Typically I run sessions at my home that I share with my partner. I have a very good D&D set up, including special lights, battle maps, dice, and a huge collection of miniatures and models. However, I can run a more compact set up elsewhere if needed (this may incur additional costs for travel, please check my Terms & Conditions for more information).
Can we play online?
This is something I am hoping to offer in the future, so if you are interested in me running your sessions online please get in touch.
How often can we play?
Playing a session every two weeks is a good average, but I can be flexible (D&D is also known as Scheduling & Conflicts!)
How long is a session?
Sessions typically run for about 4 hours.
Can we just jump right in?
We need to have a Session Zero first, which is where we discuss the kind of story you and your party want to play, get down some ideas for characters, and arrange our first proper story session. You can learn a bit more about Session Zero on my page “What is Dungeons and Dragons”.
What if we need to cancel?
I have a cancellation policy that covers for when you or I have to cancel a session. You can read it here.
What if I don’t like my character?
This is your story, and I don’t want you stuck playing a character you don’t enjoy! We can change elements of your character at any time, and we can even write them out entirely if you want to create a brand new character (you can even kill off your old character if you want to add some drama).
Do I need any models or dice?
You certainly don’t ‘need’ these things as I can provide you with models and dice each session. But if you want a model that really looks like your character there are lots of great model makers on Etsy, and you can even design your own on websites like HeroForge. Sets of dice can be picked up for as little as £5-£10 but be warned – once you start buying dice you won’t stop.
